What active opportunities can a river cruise provide you both onboard and off?

Onboard –

Start your day with a professionally trained wellness coach that offers daily yoga sessions on the sun deck with some calorie-burning aerobics, or even a light stretch class in the ship lounge.

Each ship offers a fitness center to help you stay active between excursions. If you are docked and the stationary bike isn’t your preference, you can grab one of the onboard bicycles and head out to explore the town leisurely or fast-paced ride.

All ships have a small heated pool or a jacuzzi, perfect for simple water exercises or relaxing tired muscles as the countryside of Europe passes you in the background.

The sun deck and the lounge offer the perfect atmosphere to socialize with your traveling party and other guests you meet onboard. Sunset is the best time to enjoy the scenic views. We recommend that you enjoy them as you walk the deck or by sipping a glass of locally sourced wine if that is more your speed.

Lastly, the onboard spa offers massages and other services to relax in between activities.

Onshore –

One of the benefits of a river cruise is the variety of excursions to choose from at each port. Activity levels will vary to suit your preference. This ranges from intense walking tours to gentle strolls through the town.

In many ports, hiking options will include tours of castle grounds, wine tastings at the vineyards, or visiting a brewpub within the hilltop town you climbed up to.

With plenty of free time in each port, you can explore the towns and villages on foot. A few steps off the boat you will probably find the perfect local cafe for a pastry or walk miles to sightsee every nook and cranny of the city. Some of your favorite cruise days may include strolling along the cobblestone streets of cities off the beaten path, feeling out the local culture, and seeing where the day takes you.

Modern river cruising offers an abundance of opportunities to enjoy your time ashore. In some cities, There are golfing excursions that will offer you an opportunity to try a hole-in-one on some of Europe’s world-famous greenspaces. If what you want is not already offered, you have the ability to ask your onboard cruise manager to work their magic.
